The backhand is made of Hestra's Ventus three layer polyester blend fabric.  This is Hestra's proprietary 3-layer softshell laminate designed for active outdoor gloves where wind protection, weather resistance, breathability, and stretch are more important.  

It provides abrasion resistance and 4-way stretch and is treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish so light rain and snow bead off.  Combined with a CZone waterproof membrane, these snow mittens are softer and stretchier with better dexterity and higher breathability

Hestra CZone is a waterproof and breathable membrane designed to keep water out while allowing perspiration to escape, making it suitable for skiing, snowboarding, and cold-weather outdoor activities.

PrimaLoft Gold Insulation is a premium synthetic insulation, designed to provide warmth comparable to down while retaining much more of its insulating ability when wet. It was originally developed for the U.S. military as a water-resistant alternative to goose down.
