Little Skiers

Tip of the Day

Consider buying second hand skis for children.  Children's skis tend to suffer less wear and tear to the edges and bases, and less loss of flex because children are lighter.  But beware of buying on-line unless you can see the underside clearly.

Chek the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website as they have a useful updated travel checklist and important numbers to take with you.

But in summary ensure you have winter sports travel insurance that covers skiing for the whole family, free European Health Insurance cards for all family members (for emergency care only and you must carry your card with you at all times to receive this) and full medical insurance to cover medical costs, flights home including any equipment you take.   The EHIC does not cover the costs of air ambulances so get full cover.  Get EHIC on-line at www.dh.gov.uk/travellers  or call 0845 606 2030

You need a valid passport that has a minimum of 6 months left from the date of your return, ensure the emergency details are completed:  www.ips.gov.uk

Take photocopies of passports and other important documents and keep these separate from the originals when you travel

If driving, ensure you have a valid driving licence and the appropriate European Travel Insurance and Breakdown Assistance.
